The City of Folly Beach has scheduled beach renourishment for this spring. The project will start at the West end of the island at the county park progressing towards the pier in blocks. The completion is slated for August. While this is welcomed news given the recent erosion from storms and high tides, we realize the potential for disruption based on the project’s timing. We are committed to ensuring your vacation experience remains enjoyable. While most of the beach will remain publicly accessible during the construction, there is a possibility that certain sections of the beach, typically about 500 feet at a time, may be temporarily closed off. The active work area moves every 5 to 7 days on average. Due to so many external factors, we have no way to predict an accurate timeline for when the project will be at any given location. However, if we anticipate in advance that the project may affect your stay, we will be reaching out to you. In the small chance the project directly affects your beachfront vacation, we will work closely with you to discuss options. Wander the sandy beaches of Folly Beach or stroll the local shops on Center St., just steps from your villa. Visit the Folly Beach Fishing Pier to try your luck for some fresh sea fare. No bites? NO problem. Gather the group and head to the funky and fun “downtown” Folly for a great local dinner or live music and dancing. Visit the island park with a playground or watch the sailboats cruise by from the Folly River dock. Visiting historic Charleston for the day? Walk the Charleston Battery, explore the Market, picnic at Waterfront Park, or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Holy City. If there is time, visit an antebellum mansion or Plantation, adventure to the Aquarium, stop at a local hot spot to catch the latest Charleston gossip, or take a sunset cruise in Charleston Harbor.
