Uncomfortable stay
We did not enjoy our stay because the rental was not properly cleaned and there were lots of minor maintenance issues. For this price, especially because of COVID, I would expect the owner to make sure the place is thoroughly cleaned and regularly maintained. The chain inside the toilet tank came loose twice. We had to stick our hands in there to fix it, which felt very unsanitary. There were watermelon seeds on the kitchen sink. Kitchen windows were dirty. The kitchen garbage bin was filthy. These are only some of the things we found when we arrived. There is a big stain on the rug in the bedroom. Looks like an old stain. The rug in the living room has dirt stains too, as well as the bathroom rug. The house looks like it does in the pictures on the listing. It’s a good size and located in a nice neighborhood. But it needs a deep cleaning and there were too many things that needed fixing. I contacted the owner about damage on one of the dining chairs. She said she was aware of it and apparently aware of the toilet. She apologized about the kitchen sink. I understand there is wear and tear on rentals, but that is different from making sure the house is clean and well-maintained. After we left, the owner offered to refund me the cleaning fee, which I appreciated. We felt like we overpaid, but we also expected to pay a higher price because it was a last-minute booking. (We checked in Aug 18 & booked just one week prior.) Even so, we expected better quality. If the owner addresses the cleanliness and other issues, then rental would be at the right price point.
