OUR ORCHARD
The property has 17 mature and fruit bearing trees and vines. With fruit pickers provided, please enjoy whatever is in season and ready, including lemons, grapefruits, Haas avocados, Bacon avocados, mandarin and navel oranges, clementines, apples, figs, grapes, olives, guavas and pineapples. With beds of aloe, roses, irises, camellias, and many other native plants, the outdoor spaces bloom into a lush retreat while you enjoy the pool, jacuzzi and backyard in the shade or under the SoCal sunshine in the private fenced backyard.
ABOUT MY HOME
This traditional farmhouse was designed by noted Los Angeles architect Robert Byrd and built in 1939. Byrd was known for his modern "indoor–outdoor" style that we have tried to live up to and his use of bird houses embedded in the actual structure. You will notice the two bird houses on the front of the house above the windows of the second story. This is a Standalone Construction that is 2,000 square foot home with no shared walls on a 10,000 square foot lot with the original wood floors and brick fireplaces remain in the original rooms of the house. Private, Fenced Side and Backyards. Front yard to street (no fence). House is a on tranquil, low traffic street with no connecting through streets on either side which is a perk the layout of the neighborhood provides. You would be renting the entire property to enjoy and we would not be on the premises.
ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD / VALLEY VILLAGE
The house is located in a quiet pocket neighborhood that is 2 blocks by 8 blocks in the heart of Valley Village, California. The quaint 2.09-square-mile Valley Village lies a hop skip and a jump from Universal City, just north of Studio City, east of Sherman Oaks and Encino, southwest of North Hollywood and west of Burbank in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.
OUR BEDS / SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
In the master bedroom, there is one queen-size four-poster bed handmade in Charleston, SC - (2 people). In the second bedroom there is a queen size bed - (2 people). In the third bedroom in the upstairs loft, there are two twin beds and one twin size trundle bed - (3 people) (no door / no closet). A comfortable sofa the size of a single bed sits in front room that has a thicker cushion than most mattresses - (1 person). The den couch opens up into a queen size sofa bed (2 people). We have two blow up mattresses a queen and a twin if needed to set up anywhere in the open areas of the house - (3 people). The Queen Air Mattress is Intex Queen 22" DuraBeam High Rise Airbed Mattress and the Twin is a Brookstone 24" Memory Foam Bed both with Built-in inflate/deflate air pump that fully inflates and deflates in minutes. Sleeps 9 - 13 total sleeping spot options.
EASY TO GET TO
Great access right off Laurel Canyon - a half a mile from the 170 freeway (exit Burbank), 1.5 miles from the 101 (exit Laurel Canyon), and 4.5 miles from the 405 (exit Burbank).
PARKING
We have four spots in the driveway and there is street parking if needed - no parking permits required or meters. Only exception is there is no street parking for weekly street cleaning every Wednesday (Westside - across the street) and Thursday (Eastside - closest to house) from 8 to 10 AM.
CLOSE TO UNIVERSAL, WARNER BROS, HOLLYWOOD, WEST HOLLYWOOD, BEVERLY HILLS AND WESTSIDE
We have welcomed so many incredible families on adventures to Universal that is so close - less than 5 miles away by car or a luxury option in LA being 1 mile from a subway station that is one stop from Universal City (save on parking and driving!). We are a hop skip and a jump to Warner Brothers (5 Miles), Hollywood (6 miles), West Hollywood (6.5 Miles) and over the hill from Beverly Hills (9 Miles). For a day on the West Side, Brentwood is just 14 miles and a day at the beach, the the Santa Monica Pier is 20 Miles.
POOL SPA HEATER
The pool and jacuzzi are cleaned and serviced twice weekly for your enjoyment as part of the overall rental - both are available to be used all year long with or without the heater. The heater is included for the pool and jacuzzi, but not kept heated when no one is there. We let any guest handle heating the pool and jacuzzi directly so that you are in control of your temperature preferences upon arrival and throughout your stay.
