Great home in the perfect location
My family and I spent 3 weeks here and absolutely loved it. The house itself is awesome and had plenty of space, but the real selling point is the location. Guanajuato is one of the best cities in Mexico for wandering and this house is in the middle of it all. We hope to come back again!
Staying at Tecolote 39 was the perfect spot to enjoy our fabulous trip to Guanajuato. It was super clean, in great condition and the views are breathtaking. Mario helped us with our bags to and from the airport, which was a big bonus.
Great views, great location
The penultimate GTO experience . Loved this 6+room,three story, renovated old house in thevery heart ofthe historical zone. Can’t wait to come back!
Thanks Suzanne, hope to see you again--

Our second stay, and once again, we LOVED it (especially the location and view)!
We first stayed at this property in September 2017, for a month. This time, we stayed for almost five weeks during summer 2018, for our fifth visit to Guanajuato, GTO. Obviously we wouldn't be repeat guests if we didn't love it. And, we do LOVE this home! (I have to admit that I hesitate to say so, because I know it will be harder to book as more people discover it.) The home is perfectly located, and staying there allowed us to walk most everywhere (from Presa de la Olla to Parque Los Pastitos), in a city that has an abundance of cultural events to enjoy. The area is well lit, and we felt absolutely comfortable returning to the home at night.
There were only two of us, but the house is really large, with lots of different areas to rest and relax, and it would sleep three more very comfortably. We also appreciated having two bathrooms and a washing machine (with a clothesline), and the solar water heater is a welcome improvement! It is well furnished and had everything we needed; we felt very much at home. (The owner, Barry, is incredibly nice and responsive; you really do feel like a guest. And, the binder of information about the home was really thorough and helpful. The manager, Mario, and housecleaner, Lydia, were both also very pleasant and friendly.)
Our favorite spot in the house was definitely the kitchen, with its table and chairs positioned in front of the huge picture window with its incredible view of the dome of Templo San Francisco. (The dome wasn't lit at night on this trip, however, which was a small disappointment. But, the view during the day is stunning.) The only things that might bother SOME guests are things that are simply part and parcel of this amazing city: the noise of fireworks, barking dogs, and church bells, as well as the presence of an occasional scorpion during the rainy season. Also, the house is open to the sky between floors, so you can get wet if it's raining and you're headed to the bathrooms from the bedrooms (or going between floors). So, if those are "dealbreakers" for you, we suggest you simply find a different city to visit! But, if you want to be immersed in the wonderful culture of Mexico in one of its absolute best cities, in a fabulous Mexican home, stay here! We certainly hope to be back!
Thanks Anne for such a thorough review, much appreciated!

It was our lucky day when we found this gem in Guanajuato!
My husband and I stayed here for two weeks and slept in the top floor bedroom. Let me just say that from the moment we stepped through the front door into this beautiful colonial style casa we could not stop talking about how lucky we were to have found it! The views are literally breath taking. The roosters crowing, dogs barking, church bells chiming and all of the singing and music coming up from the streets below added to our experience in the best way possible. It was exciting just to wake up in the morning! The entire house is so comfortable and charming. The location is awesome! So close to everything that interests us. Restaurants, live music, street vendors, shops, museums and gorgeous architecture. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home. And thank you to Mario who manages the property for his kindness and all of his suggestions for things not to miss while in Guanajuato! I hope we will be lucky again someday and return!
Thank you, Deborah, for this 5-star review--we're so glad you enjoyed staying in our Guanajuato home. And as you say, Mario is super helpful--I'll pass on your comments.

We love the stunning views from Tecolote 39!
We absolutely fell in love with Guanajuato! This was our second summer staying for 1 month at Tecolote 39. My 13 year old son and 11 year old daughter consider it "our home!" We love everything about the house! The bright colors and the typical Mexican design make for an authentic experience. The house is located a short, uphill walk on a beautiful cobblestone street lined with colorful houses.
We love all the sights and sounds of GTO. You will hear the church bells ringing, the dogs barking, the roosters crowing and music playing. The house is in a great location with a short walk to Teatro Juarez and Jardin de la Union. My son learned to play a mariachi instrument while we were there. We spent every night in the jardin enjoying watching our son playing with his favorite mariachi group.
Staying at Tecolote 39 was such a wonderful experience. From reserving the home, to the airport pick up and the weekly house cleaning. We became fast friends with Mario. He even joined us in the jardin to watch our son play with the mariachis. We enjoyed talking with Lydia who keeps the home sparkly clean. We also became friends with Jesus who delivers the propane tanks. Everyone was so friendly. We left our hearts in GTO! We will definitely be returning.
You made our day! Thank you Shannon—y’all come back now, y’hear?!
