We stayed only 4 days so it was important to be close to the many important sites and activities - this rental was perfectly situated in the Central Historic District (restaurants, plazas, parks, museums, etc.). The unit(s) were very charming, spacious, simple, clean, and the building had so much character. Our 2 teenage daughters loved spending the evenings watching the projection TV from the bed after long days of lots of walking and movement. Olivia and the maintenance helper were responsive and helpful. We hired a driver (recommended by Olivia ) who took us on an all-day tour of ancient Teotihuacan. The day was exceptional and far better than we imagined, the highlight of the trip for me. Arturo picked us up in a nice, comfortable SUV, drove us to pre-mapped places, conveyed so much history, facts, and commentary, he took care of our tickets and showed us where to enter/exit, where to focus, took us to a restaurant when we needed to re-charge, and ended with a bang at the Basilica. I may not make it back to Mexico City so I am grateful we had the chance to see and learn so much. Outstanding!
Ideal Centro Location
This apartment--or rather these two well separated loft bedroom apartments--are spacious and comfortable for a short stay. Best of all is the extraordinary location which is, as other reviews mention, both right in the middle of the historic centro area and blissfully quiet late at night. (There was a party in the building with loud music into the wee hours one weekend night but I believe this to be an exception, it's a tranquil residence with nice neighbors. In an adjacent building apt there was dance/electric music booming every day from about 11 am-6 pm but that always quieted by early evening)
Preparing some basic meals and taking a break from restaurants is one reason we generally rent apartments instead of hotel rooms when landing for several days. Although basic equipment such as coffee maker, toaster oven and small fridge has been thoughtfully provided the little gas stove (in one apt, the other has only a contact heating plate) offers only limited heating capacity which didn't allow us to simultaneously boil water and simmer a pasta sauce. This is likely not a big deal for many travelers as CDMX abounds with food from street vendors to Michelin starred restaurants (reserve weeks/months ahead) but seems worth mentioning for those to whom a working kitchen counts. The same gas issue also limits the water heater---warming only enough for one short bath, so time accordingly.
We enjoyed the ample separation of space for unwinding after bustling excursions and slept notably well in the comfortable king bed.
We did not meet our host, Olivia, but messaged back and forth a couple of times. She was welcoming and considerate and had some minor maintenance details promptly handled.
All in all this is a great base, within easy walking distance of many museums and historic sites in this not-to-be-missed grand city.
idyllic character property in amazing location
olivia was the perfect host, helping us with airport taxis, frida Kahlo links for tickets, and accommodating our needs.
the historic property is basic but unique, clean and with all the facilities we needed.
the area is safe, central and great to walk to lots of sights
Two separate apartments connected by an outdoor patio located close to the Zocalo.
The property is located in a Spanish Colonial home that has been broken into a number of separate apartments. The property itself has been cleverly converted into two separate two story suites. It was very clean simply but nicely decorated.
Great location. Very clean, comfortable, quiet and atmospheric. Highly recommended!
We loved this great apartment in the Centro Historico. Convenient to great neighborhood stores and historic sites. Can’t beat the location, and so quiet for being right in the center of town. Video projectors were a nice touch. Very spacious too. Our family of 5 felt right at home. Be sure to check out Esperanza bakery around the corner.
This is a very nice property. Mrs. Olivia Andrews was 100% helpful with all our needs, and we had a very pleasant stay in a very beautiful building just about four blocks from the main Cathedral in El Zocalo.
