Just 20 min. from downtown Chattanooga, this 5 bedroom 5.5 bath home is located high atop Walden's Ridge near Signal Mountain and The Tennessee River. Gorgeous Mountain Retreat is complete with wrap around decks, indoor and outdoor fireplace, Full Kitchen, Dining, and Living Space and all the amenities to ensure you never want to leave! The Game & Movie Room on the lower level provides plenty of entertainment for the kids and kids at heart in your group! High ceilings and exposed beam work create a warm open lodge atmosphere.

WE DO NOT ALLOW pets AT THIS LISTING under any circumstances. This includes service dogs.

Rates are based on an occupancy of 8 persons. Additional charge of $15 per additional guest per night apply.

Be sure to check out listings #1280202 and # 920261, Serene Mountain Retreat and Sparrows Nest. These quaint cabins are the sister properties to Gorgeous Mountain Retreat and can be rented in combination with Gorgeous Mountain Retreat for large reunions and/or retreats.

Parking for guest renting Gorgeous Mountain Retreat ONLY is limited to 4 cars. Please do not park on the grass or pull through the yard.

No Smoking, Vaping or illicit drug use, some of these items leave smells that are near impossible to remove. Your deposit will be withheld if use is detected.

Unfortunately we have dealt with a few entitled and demanding guest over the course of time as well.

Perfect for Family Vacation

We had a family vacation with 7 adults and 4 children. Everyone had ample space, the kids enjoyed playing outside and with the provided games. Host responded quickly to small issue and corrected it.

Simply the best stay we've ever had and the nicest hosts

So let me start off by saying I got the dates wrong for for our stay. The hosts were so accommodating and kind and trying to work with us. He's probably the only reason my wife and I are still talking:-) their home is absolutely gorgeous and one of the nicest areas of Chattanooga. If I could have I would have stayed a month. The home was clean very, very well equipped, and gave you a sense of Mountain life with all the amenities.

27th Year & Counting!

This is our 27th year (28 stays) for our family beginning with our parents, my 4 siblings and their spouses. We have continued on with the tradition started in 1997 after our last parent passed in 2010 by expanding our destinations beyond a 4-5 hour drive from greater Cincinnati. Susan was a tremendous host and was extremely responsive in addressing our needs. The home was well suited for our now 7 (3 couples and one widower) except when we were preparing meals, then the kitchen got a little tight but overall the place was as-described. The earlier reviews helped in selecting this place and the location on top of Signal Mountain was breathtaking (though the views across the street were blocked by mature trees. Everything was within 30-40 minutes away: downtown Chattanooga, sites on Lookout Mountain, Micro-breweries and Distilleries but not being local to the area, going up/down the mountain meant earlier evenings which didn't bother us at all since we cook breakfast/dinner in. We would have wanted to take advantage of the built-in outdoor fireplace but the weather was a little too warm for us to enjoy. The side porch was an early morning and evening place to gather as a family to discuss the day's events as well as "just catching up" with each other and their families. My wife and I are planning on returning to the Skagg's home on Signal Mtn. with our daughter, grand/greatgrand children next year. The local haunts: Rock City, Ruby Falls, Incline are all worth visiting

House in the clouds

The house was really nice, and owners tried to fix issues. However, we couldn't use the bottom level do to caterpillars/worms every where. We kept sweeping them up but they just kept coming and headed upstairs. They tried to fix a mysterious leak, and we had to go from level 1 to level 3 to use bathroom with the worms:( The dishwasher and oven were filthy, and house wasn't cleaned the best either. The dishwasher had food in it and no dishes in it, so I don't know why it was dirty? It showed a view from the master suite, but no view.

Big Fork Cabin

The property is spacious with 5 bedrooms. Bathrooms lack vanity space and the main floor bathroom sink needs updating. The size worked for our family. The owner was very nice and helpful with any issues we had.

Our family moved to the Chattanooga in 2013 with the vision to build Gorgeous Mountain Retreat overlooking beautiful Sequatchie Valley in the Blue Ridge mountains of TN. We have loved adding special touches to the cabin, recommending our favorite Chattanooga dives and outdoor gems, and meeting a few of the wonderful families that have stayed at the cabin.

Gorgeous Mountain Retreat was built as a retreat for missionaries and their families in 2014. When missionaries are not staying at the cabin, we make these dates available to friends and families from around the world. A percentage of each stay helps support missionaries on the field through our ministry, More Than A Sparrow Ministries.

There is so much to love about this cabin...Indoor/outdoor fireplaces add great ambiance and solstice along with private balconies and wrap around deck. The cabin is surrounded by Prentice Cooper State Forest atop Walden's Ridge. You feel like you can touch the stars. Visitors love to sit outside with a cup of coffee in the crisp morning air and listening to the morning birds and watching the clouds roll through the valley. Our guest love that each spacious bedroom has it's own bathroom. There is plenty of room to spread out in the cabin and great spaces to come together.
